Eligibility for the Rhodes Scholarship

Rhodes Scholars come from all corners of the world.

Please note: If your country is not represented, please visit the application page at the bottom of this article and then follow the eligibility criteria in order to find out if your country will still be accepted.

You should be at least 18 but not yet 24 or 28 (depending on your country) at the time of application. Additionally, you should have completed your undergraduate degree with a GPA meeting the Rhodes Scholarship requirements – generally at least a 3.7 out of 4.0, or equivalent.

Application Process

To take you one step closer to Oxford, here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the application process

Start Early: The application process begins a year in advance. Plan ahead!

Personal Statement: Your chance to shine! Make it engaging, heartfelt, and representative of you.

References: Gather 5-8 references, with at least four from academics who’ve taught you.

Transcripts: Provide official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.

Endorsement: Depending on your country, you may need endorsement from your university.

The Interview Process

After submitting your application, if shortlisted, you’ll be invited for interviews. These interviews aim to gauge your potential beyond academic excellence. Be prepared to discuss your aspirations, experiences, and how you plan to make a difference.
